Welcome to Ms. Fletcher's Puppies class!
Although PWCS is unable to provide instruction or class assignments to students while schools remain closed, our School Division hopes that the suggestions for optional learning activities posted here will help parents support student learning until schools re-open. Please remember that use of these materials and participation in these activities are optional and neither grades nor course credit will be awarded.

Update 6/1/2020: With just two weeks left, we are continuing with some skills that the students can really explore on their own. This week we are continuing to talk about research and the students can explore the website on their own. I have uploaded the schedule to our Files/Documents page under At Home Learning. Please check your email for other documents and information so that your child can conduct research on their own!

Update 5/25/2020: Happy Memorial Day! We are in the home stretch! I have uploaded the schedule for the week to my files/documents folder. Also Summer School will be online this summer and information should have been emailed to you. Registration will be online as well. Please see your email from the school district if you are interested in your child attending.
Update 5/18/2020: This week's schedule has been updated and emailed. I have also posted it to the files/documents folder under At Home Learning. I will send information about this week's incentive for the digital reading log by the end of the day today. Update 5/11/2020: This week's schedule has been updated and posted to my files/documents folder under At Home Learning. Also, my final order for Scholastic will be placed on Saturday, May 16th. If you are in need of any more scholastic books, please place your order by Friday. To access Scholastic, go to the following link: https://orders.scholastic.com/Q6F4T

Update 5/4/2020: This week's schedule has been emailed and posted for you to reference and contains the video links as always. Also, we are starting an online reading log. Click on the following link to access the reading log: https://forms.office.com/Pages/ResponsePage.aspx?id=bZqwF-SVHk2F4xzg1N5_waHU7CIvBXJMlUgkHhrNsB9UMVBXUVNOQ1hINFA2R1lJM0xCVTdDM05SVS4u Thanks and have a great week of learning!

Update 4/27/2020: The schedule for this week has been emailed and is posted under Files/Documents in the At Home Learning file. Just like last week, you will find the links for the videos on the schedule for easy access. Please send me pictures of your child while working because at the end of the year, since we cannot be together, I would like to put something together for the students. Thank you to those who have attended my office hours. I think everyone is enjoying seeing each other and sharing what they are working on.

Update 4/20/2020: I have posted the schedule for this week under Files/Documents in the At Home Learning file. On the schedule, you will find the links for the videos so that you can access them at your convenience. Also, the kindergarten team has updated the reading, writing, and math choice boards with new activities. These have been posted in the Choice Boards folders in At Home Learning. I have moved the old boards for these three subjects to a Previous Choice Boards folder so that you can still have access to these if you need them. Please do not hesitate to email me if you have any questions and I hope the students enjoy our video lessons!
Update 4/13/2020: I hope everyone had a wonderful Spring Break and I want to welcome everyone back to this new world of distance learning. For our next phase of the continuity of learning plan, the kindergarten team has created a schedule to help you structure your time with your child. The schedule can be found under my files/documents tab. Please keep in mind this is a recommendation for how to help your child with the different subject areas. Each day I will notify you of the new video that is being posted so that you can access it for your child to watch. I have also updated my files with a science choice board and a social studies choice board. These are additional activities that can be done with your child. Some videos may also include a suggested activity to do with your child instead of a choice board. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.

Finally, I have set up office hours every Tuesday from 1-1:30pm and every Friday from 9:30-10am. Please see my email for information on how to access these office hours. They are for students to bring something they have done for feedback, parents to ask a question, students to ask a question, or just to say hi.

Thanks and stay healthy!

Update 4/1/2020: I hope everyone is doing well in this crazy time. We have started a Coles Kindergarten YouTube channel (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCbOO-qt5KgWyUtBI4ZCsW0A) where you can find videos from all of the Kindergarten teachers on various topics. Please check out these videos and have your child watch them as they work on any material. I have also added choice boards under the Files/documents for reading. There are a total of four different choice boards (also Spanish versions are up) for your child to do activities from in the areas of math, reading, popcorn words, and writing. Please feel free to send me pictures or videos of your child and send them to colesroadrunners@gmail.com and if you have any questions, do not hesitate to email me.

Update 3/25/2020: Under the "At Home Learning" folder under Files/documents, I have created new folders. The first folder is the Pacing Guide and SOLs. In this file there are two documents. The pacing guide will show you what SOLs were taught throughout the school year (and which ones were not yet covered). The numbers can be referenced on the SOLs document where we have highlighted all of the SOLs that have been covered. If you have any questions, please don't hesistate to contact me. I also have added folders for each subject area. Each folder has the curriculum framework for your reference. I have also placed a writing page template for printing. This is the type of format the students have been using all year.

Update 3/24/2020: Just added to the "At Home Learning" folder under files/documents are two more choice boards. One for writing and one for practicing popcorn words. Spanish versions to come soon.

Update 3/23/2020: I have posted a folder under files/documents on this webpage a new folder labeled "At Home Learning". I will be adding files here for resources that you can use with your child at home. I just added a Math Choice Board where each day your child can choose an activity to complete. If you have not sent me your preferred email for SplashMath, please send it to me so that your child has access to the program at home. This is a very new experience for all of us and I am working closely with the kindergarten team to give you additional resources as we continue. Please feel free to reach out to me through email should you have any questions.

Update 3/18/2020: I hope everyone has been able to focus on their families and staying healthy during this very unexpected time. Due to the closure, I wanted to provide families with some additional resources for practice for your child so that they can maintain their skills. I sent home everyone's Raz-Kids logins again on Friday. Having your child spend 20 minutes each day on this program will help them to maintain their reading skills on their reading level as well as have them practice their comprehension skills. I am able to access reports and if needed change their reading levels so that they can continue to grow. Also, please continue to have your child practice their popcorn words. There are popcorn word videos under the files/documents tab on this webpage that your child can watch for each of the quarters. You can also begin to have your child practicing their fourth quarter popcorn words as these words will be challenging and we will have a shortened time period to learn them when we do return to school. If you need the list again, it is also located under files/documents. I will be updating this webpage with additional resources so please check back frequently.

Thanks and stay healthy!
Ms. Fletcher

Update 12/12/2019: We are in need of Quart size ziplocks. If you have a box you can send in, that would be great.

Please make sure you are sending in a winter coat with your student. With the constant change in temperatures, they may need it for outdoor recess or an outdoor activity when the weather allows.

Also with the 2 hour delays please be aware that our schedule for the day does change. Please see the schedule page for the 2 hour delay schedule for updated lunch times.
