UPDATE - June 12, 2020

Dear Parents,

Well we made it! I want to thank you for your support and flexibility all year but especially during these last three months. It wasn't easy but we did it.  I am hopeful I will be seeing your child in person again this fall. Until then please stay safe, enjoy your summer and tell your child that I miss him so much and to read, read, read!

Take Care,

Mrs. Smith

Hello Parents and Students! I truly hope you all are well! I have added an October review under the files and documents tab. There are lots of videos and links for your students to use. Please find the folder marked October review and your students grade level.  At this point, the county would like to see students reviewing each subject for an hour a week, that breaks down to 12 minutes a day. We can do this! Please feel free to check in with me via Zoom on Tuesday’s and Thursday’s from 12:30 -1:00.

Be safe and take care, I sure do miss you!!!!!!

UPDATE MARCH 30, 2020  Disclaimer:

Although PWCS is unable to provide instruction or class assignments to students while schools remain closed, our School Division hopes that the suggestions for optional learning activities posted here will help parents support student learning until schools re-open. Please remember that use of these materials and participation in these activities are optional and neither grades nor course credit will be awarded.
Parents - I have uploaded optional work for you child to review. It is only review. You can find the review under files and documents>September Review Grades 1-5, and then select your child's current grade.
I hope you all are well!

UPDATE MARCH 23, 2020

Good afternoon Parents,
At 2 o'clock today Governor Northam closed schools for the rest of the 2019-20 school year.  I will continue to update you through this website as to what is expected of us as teachers and of your students. Guidance is expected to come from the Virginia Department of Education later this week.  At this point please continue to read with your children and explore the websites provided under useful links section. I have added a link to dojo and a jeopardy game. Jeopardy has been a big hit in the past! Students can play alone or with multiple players in the house.   If you need to contact me please feel free to do so via class dojo. I hope everyone is healthy!
Take Care!

UPDATE MARCH 20, 2020
Hello Parents,
During our time away from school I hope everyone is healthy and continues to be. I have added a some links to the useful links section of this webpage that you and  your child can access. Raz Kids is one and I would encourage your child to continue reading their 3 books a day. One book counts as listening to the book, reading the book themselves, and then completing the online quiz.  The second link is Time magazine for kids with lots of interesting articles to choose from!  The third link is a story book website where your child can select a book and have it  read to them . There are search options and a list of categories to help them make their selections.  Things are still evolving as to what is expected of teachers and students at this time, I will let you know any new information as soon as I do.  Please contact me via class dojo should you have any questions.
Take Care!
