Coles Elementary has been recognized as a year 10 Virginia Naturally School for the 2022-2023 school year. The goal of the school recognition program is to recognize the efforts undertaken by Virginia schools that increase the environmental awareness and stewardship of its students. Our efforts to teach and have students actively participate in activities such as composting, monitoring the amount of trash our school produces, recycling efforts, conservation of water, the use of our gardens and orchard, etc...lead to the environmental stewardship of our natural resources and are recognized and commended by the Virginia Wildlife Department through this award. Coles Elementary School is the only school in PWCS to earn 10 years of this award. We are a certified Wildlife Habitat and Monarch Waystation. Coles Elementary is also a US Department of Education Green Ribbon School and a US Department of Education Blue Ribbon School.
