Happy May! It is hard to believe we are in the home stretch of this school year. I hope that as the weather continues to warm up that you and your families are getting lots of quality time outdoors. I have added some more STEM activities to this page under Files and Documents, and if you find you have exhausted most of our other resources up to this point or need a change of pace from Prodigy or Raz Kids or EPIC!, I wanted to make you aware that your child can explore the tools on Moby Max beyond just the lessons we assign. There are a ton of additional extension activities on that site. Please reach out if you are in need of more support or further ideas, and please continue sharing all the amazing things you are doing at home on Class Dojo! Have a fabulous week!

Hello parents and families! I hope you are all managing okay at home and continuing to utilize some of our resources we have set up. I wanted to remind all families that students now have access to an awesome reading app called EPIC! This website has tons of books that your child can read at home or have read out loud to them. All they need to do is visit www.getepic.com/students and log in with our class code, which is nuu2673, and click on their name. I want to thank everyone who has been attending our weekly Zoom lessons or office hours as well as everyone who has been working hard on Prodigy, Raz kids, epic, and Moby Max. I have also very much enjoyed seeing pictures of what everyone is doing on Dojo! We are here for you and we are here to help! Have a great week!

Hello parents and families! It is with a very heavy heart that I write to you today and try to wrap my head around not being together as a class and not getting the opportunity to finish together what we started this year. I wish more than anything that we could continue learning and having fun together at Coles, and I am thinking about all of our students and families constantly. We are eagerly awaiting more news from the Virginia Department of Education as well as the superintendent here in Prince William County about how to proceed from here, and I will provide updates on here and on Dojo as I hear them. The first grade team is working hard to put together digital resources and support for our students that are simple and user friendly. Next week, we will begin virtual review lessons on material that has already been taught to your students this year. Please also continue to refer to the Files and Documents tab on this site as we will be uploading resources regularly. Today I uploaded a list of more on online resources to use at home under that tab. As always, please feel free to reach out on email or on Dojo with any questions and concerns!

Please know that I am thinking of all our wonderful students and families during this time, and I am already missing all my favorite first graders! We encourage all families to do their best to keep their young learners on a routine, to the best of their ability. Please click on the "Files and Documents" link from this site to access some learning resources that you can use at home. Please continue reading with your child at home, utilizing our class technology resources such as Raz Kids for reading and Prodigy for math, and work on basic addition and subtraction facts with your child. If you have any other questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to me either by email or Class Dojo.
